Benefits of Earning a High School Equivalency Diploma
Passing the GED exam and earning your HSE diploma can improve your life in many ways. Here are some of the top reasons:
- Career Advancement - A high school equivalency diploma helps you qualify for jobs that require a high school education and can lead to new career advancement opportunities.
- College Readiness - Many colleges and universities require a high school diploma or its equivalent for admission, including FLCC. Once you pass the GED, you'll meet this requirement.
- Personal Fulfillment - Earning a high school equivalency diploma can be a source of personal pride and accomplishment. It can also boost your confidence and provide a sense of fulfillment.
- Higher Earning Potential - Individuals with a high school diploma or its equivalent tend to earn more over their lifetimes than those without this level of education.
Program Requirements
- HSE courses are open to adults and out-of-school youth age 16 and older.
- Complete a basic skills assessment in reading and math before or during your first HSE courses.
- Achieve New York State Education Department (NYSED) level 2 cutoff scores in math and reading pretests.
