About the Program
Start earning the benefits of a college education while in high school. With the Early College Scholars program, you take college courses online or at one of the FLCC locations in Canandaigua, Victor, Newark, or Geneva. You'll learn from college instructors, get a taste of college life, and become acclimated to a campus setting.
Benefits of the Early College Scholars Program
- Supplement your high school coursework with college-level classes.
- Find alternative ways to satisfy high school graduation requirements.
- Complete a college degree in less time after high school graduation.
- Earn transfer credits to use at a college or university of your choice.
Scholarship Funding Available
Early College Scholar participants receive a scholarship that covers a portion of their part-time in-state tuition. Funding is available for all high school and home school students who meet the program eligibility requirements.
We accept scholarship applications through the following dates:
- Fall Enrollment: August 15
- Spring enrollment: January 15
- Summer and winter enrollment: two weeks prior to the start date of the course
How to Enroll in the ECS Program
Follow this process to enroll in the Early College Scholar program and secure your funding.
For new students with no FLCC student account
- Complete our instant enrollment process to create your MyFLCC account.
- Visit MyFLCC Instant Enrollment and click the 'Search' button.
- Click 'Select' for the 'REG 101' course and 'Add Section' to add to your cart.
- Click 'Next' and enter your personal information.
- Submit the form. You'll receive course registration instructions by email.
- Review your course options using our course schedule.
- Register for classes by following the instructions in MyFLCC.
For Gemini students or returning ECS students
- Email ecs@flcc.edu to request your MyFLCC username.
- Set up your MyFLCC account using that username.
- Review your course options using our course schedule.
- Register for classes by following the instructions in MyFLCC.
Note: You can register for any FLCC class as long as you have completed the corresponding prerequisites.
For students under the age of 16
- Complete our instant enrollment process to create your MyFLCC account.
- Visit MyFLCC Instant Enrollment and click the 'Search' button.
- Click 'Select' for the 'REG 101' course and 'Add Section' to add to your cart.
- Click 'Next' and enter your personal information.
- Submit the form. You'll receive course registration instructions by email.
- Review your course options using our course schedule.
- Email your schedule to ECS@flcc.edu so our office can enroll you.
Note: Make sure you meet all placement and prerequisite requirements before enrolling in math, English, or science courses. If you’re under 16 and a first-time student, meet with an academic advisor.
- Complete our instant enrollment process to create your MyFLCC account.
To be eligible for the ECS scholarship, you must:
- Be 18 years of age or younger and enrolled in high school or an approved home school program
- Register for classes through MyFLCC (unless you are under the age of 16, see instructions below)
- Submit a residency affidavit to receive NYS tuition rates
- Satisfy all course prerequisites and placement testing requirements
- Maintain an overall 2.5 FLCC GPA in subsequent semesters
Note: You must complete a separate scholarship form each term. Scholarship funds are applied after you register for courses.
Early College Scholars is only available to students currently in high school or a home school program.
Consider these options if you aged out of the K-12 education system and did not earn a high school diploma:
- 24-Credit-Hour Program — Earn college credit and a High School Equivalency diploma at the same time. Email aacts@flcc.edu or call the Academic Advising, Career and Transfer Services Office at (585) 785-1268 to learn more.
- High School Equivalency Program— Our free HSE program prepares you for the GED test and can help you earn your High School Equivalency diploma. The program is open to adults and out-of-school youth age 16 and older. Email GED@flcc.edu or call the Adult Basic Education Office at (585) 785-1431 to learn more.
Advising Appointments Available
We're here to help you select the best courses for your situation. During your advising session, you will discuss short-term and long-term goals and learn how FLCC fits into your desired higher education or career path.
Advising appointments are available online most days between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
