  • Develop Digital Media Projects From Start to Finish

The New Media capstone course mirrors the project development cycle you'll encounter in the workplace. You'll brainstorm and pitch ideas to a panel of faculty and then see the project through from concept to launch. Along the way, you'll record your progress and provide updates to the class about various challenges and successes.

At the end of the semester, each team unveils their project with a public presentation and product demonstration.

    Sample Capstone Projects

New Media capstone projects include way-finding apps, video games, documentaries, original short films, stop-motion videos, promotional materials, and more. Some recent capstone projects include:

    • Project Rock — a music video game similar to Guitar Hero and Rock Band. Players press color-coded buttons to match corresponding notes on the screen while a song is playing.
    • Promotional Videos — a series of short films featuring three specific FLCC programs. Team members interviewed current students, recorded footage, and edited audio and video for digital publication.
    • Holo Pong — a 3D hologram game based on the classic 1970s game. The cabinet includes two HD monitors and an acrylic plastic pyramid that reflects images on the monitors.
    • Room 2420 — a 5-episode mockumentary that gives viewers a look into the process of creating the capstone projects.
