Many program activities are available online and in person, so you can take part from anywhere.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics expects demand for writing work to grow 9% by 2030. The median annual salary for writers and authors in 2021 was $69,510. Many writers are self-employed. - Joint Admissions Agreements: These allow first-year students to gain admission to both FLCC and participating four-year schools at the same time. Gain peace of mind knowing your next step is set while you complete your associate degree with us.
- Transfer Articulation Agreements: These partnerships ensure your credits from FLCC will transfer directly and seamlessly to a partner four-year school. You can enter a bachelor’s program with full junior standing, saving you time and money.

Collaborative Writing Workshops
Master a range of styles and genres by completing four writing workshop classes. You'll engage in meaningful dialogue, revise your work, and be part of a writing community. Start with an introduction to creative writing and build up to workshops on poetry, fiction, and nonfiction.
Real-World Writing Projects
Whether you're interested in editing, publishing, or content creation, you'll refine your creative skills while building a portfolio. Our literary journal, podcasting, and capstone courses prepare you for careers in the creative industry. You may also have a chance to complete an internship, either on-campus or off-campus, or through our partnership with BOA Editions.
Join Our Creative Writing Club
Dead Poets Society is a student club for those drawn to poetry, fiction, and other forms of expression. The club works with the Creative Writing program to host literary events. Past activities included readings, author visits, film nights, and making a 'zine.

Edit and Produce a Literary Journal
Learn how to manage submissions, work with authors, and edit manuscripts for publication. Design and produce a digital journal while introducing readers to new authors and their creative visions.
The publication features poetry, fiction, creative non-fiction, and visual arts, showcasing emerging talent from around the world.
