Learn how to maintain the safety of inmates, employees, and visitors with a Corrections Officer certificate. Build your confidence as a supervisor and security provider who settles inmate disputes and monitors daily activities in a jail, prison, or rehabilitation center. Coursework introduces you to key aspects of the criminal justice system, including current trends in corrections and constitutional law. You'll study the procedures and practices used in modern correctional facilities while preparing for an entry-level career in the industry.

After earning this certificate, you'll be ready to complete the required correctional officer training academy and start on-the-job training at a correctional facility. This certificate meets or exceeds the educational requirements of local corrections facilities, including:

Where Our Students Transfer
If you're interested in continuing your education, all of your coursework can transfer to our A.A.S. Criminal Justice degree program. This program will broaden your career prospects and prepare you for a future in law enforcement or probation work in addition to corrections. From there, you can complete a civil service test to immediately begin your career or pursue an advanced degree in criminal justice.
