Every New Student has a Success Coach
All incoming students at FLCC can connect with a Success Coach from our Success Team. Some students may be eligible for additional support by applying to join either SUNY ASAP or EOP. Learn more below.
How We Promote Your Success
Success Coaches provide the following support to guide you through your college experience:
Getting to Know You
Your first meeting begins with your success coach taking time to get to know you. You'll talk about what brings you to FLCC and how we can support you as you navigate college life.
Haven’t met your coach yet? Set up a meeting today using Starfish.
Sharing College Resources
FLCC provides many different services and resources to help you succeed. Your success coach can show you how and when to access them. During coaching sessions, you’ll learn about:
- The Center for Student Well-Being
- Tutoring Services
- TimelyCare
Explaining College Systems
Colleges rely on many online systems to manage academic services. These can be challenging to navigate. Use your one-on-one coaching time to explore these systems with a professional:
- MyFLCC (the FLCC student portal)
- Brightspace (our online learning platform)
- MyWCOnline (our scheduling platform for tutoring)
- Student email and the Microsoft Office Suite
- Textbook orders
Programming We Offer
Learn strategies that help you in every class. Our programming changes each semester based on student needs and interests. We will contact you to inform you about group events covering topics like:
- Time management and organization
- Motivation and goal setting
- Study strategies and test prep
Expect to Hear from Us
Each semester, your instructors will have several opportunities to give you feedback on your class performance. You can expect to hear from your success coach if you're struggling in one or more classes. We’ll reach out to understand your challenges and see how we can help. Communication is essential for your academic success.
Meet the Student Success Team
We are available to connect with every new student, from the time you register for classes to those first exciting weeks of the semester and through the ups and downs of your first year.
SUNY Advancing Success in Associate Pathways (ASAP)
At FLCC, SUNY ASAP provides an enhanced academic environment with personalized support services for a select cohort of students. You’ll belong to a group of students who all receive extra guidance, structure, and financial help to stay on course and graduate on time.
SUNY ASAPEducational Opportunity Program
The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) is a state-funded initiative that provides access, support, and financial aid to students who show promise for college success but have faced academic and economic challenges. We'll help you transition to college-level work and stay on track.

There are so many people at FLCC that have really helped me in the last year. I used the writing lab to get help with assignments, disability services to reduce distractions when test taking, and educational coaching to better manage my study time. All of us here at FLCC are really one big family and that has a big impact on whether a student can really be successful or not.
