Dropping from a Course/Drop Deadlines

Sometimes plans change, and you may need to drop a course. The earlier you act, the more options you have for a tuition refund and how the change appears on your transcript.

Understanding the Impact of Dropping a Course

If you have questions about how dropping a course will affect your graduation, academic standing, financial aid, eligibility to participate in sports, veterans' benefits, or tuition refunds, contact One Stop Center before submitting the form. For information about how dropping a course will affect your financial responsibility and refund policies, please visit the refund policies page.

Do not assume that missing class automatically results in being dropped by the instructor. Your absence might lead to a failing grade and impact your academic standing and financial aid. Proactively withdrawing before the deadline will ensure you do not receive an "F" grade for the course.

How to Drop or Withdraw from a Course

  • Check the deadlines - Review the refund and withdrawal deadlines for your course below.
  • Talk to your advisor - Discuss the impact on your academic progress, financial aid, and more.
  • Drop a course - Complete a Drop/Add Slip as long as you remain registered for at least one course.
  • Drop all courses - Visit the Official Withdrawal page to learn more about dropping all of your courses.
