Refund Policies
If you drop a class, you may be eligible for a tuition and fee refund—but only if you act before the refund deadline. Refund amounts decrease over time, so it’s important to know your dates and act quickly.
How Refunds Work
- Refunds are based on the date you officially drop the course (not the last day you attended).
- The refund percentage depends on when you drop the course.
- If you withdraw after the refund period has ended, you will not be eligible for a tuition refund.
- Tuition must have been paid by cash, check, or credit card.
Credit Courses - Full Semester Classes (15 Weeks)
- The date the college receives these forms by the appropriate office (as shown on the form) is the date the withdrawal becomes effective. The college is not responsible for postal delays or mistakes and strongly urges students to verify that their paperwork has been received.
- A verbal notice from a student to an instructor, advisor, or any FLCC staff member does not count as a formal course withdrawal or drop.
- Missing attendance does not reduce tuition and fees; therefore, submitting timely withdrawals or drop slips will ensure correct credit to your student account.
- No refund will be issued for fees or pre-admission (tuition) deposits once the semester has started.
- For 15-week for-credit courses, the drop form must be received at least one day before the official semester start date to receive a full refund.
Credit Courses - Less than 15 Weeks
- For shorter courses, the drop form must be received at least one day before the class's start date.
- If the College cancels courses, changing your status from full to part-time, the appropriate tuition and fees will be refunded. If a student changes from full to part-time status (11 or fewer credit hours per semester) after the semester has started, a refund will be issued according to the schedule for tuition refunds.
- The date the college office receives the course drop form will determine refunds.
- To get a 100% refund of tuition and fees already paid, the completed forms must be received by the One Stop Center one business day before classes begin.
- If you drop a class within seven calendar days of the start date, you will receive a 25% refund of the tuition only.
- No refund is given for course drops after seven days from the start date.
Credit Courses - Winter Session and Summer Sessions
- The date the appropriate office (as shown on the form) receives the form will determine refunds.
- To get a full refund of tuition and fees already paid, the completed forms must be received by the appropriate office (as shown on the form) one business day before the session starts.
- If you drop a class within seven calendar days of the session start date, you will receive a 25% refund (only for tuition).
- No refunds are given for course drops made after seven calendar days from the session start date.
Non-Credit Courses
- Refunds will be processed for those students who officially cancel their registration and submit their form to the appropriate office five business days before the start date of classes.
- Please contact Workforce & Career Solutions if you have questions about dropping your non-credit course.
Refund Policy for Students Receiving Federal Financial Aid Awards
Federal regulations (the Higher Education Amendments of 1998, regulation 34 CFR part 668.22) require each school to have a written policy for refunding and repaying Federal Title IV aid received by students who withdraw during a term for which Title IV aid has been received.
These policies are effective only if the student completely terminates enrollment (i.e., cancels their registration, withdraws, or is dismissed) or stops attending classes before completing more than 60% of the enrollment period. Therefore, attending more than 60% of the enrollment period is necessary to maintain federal and state financial aid eligibility. Non-attendance may result in a financial obligation.
