What can we help you find?

Internships

An internship is a hands-on work experience in your field of study, helping you gain skills, earn credit, and connect classroom learning to real-world work.

Launch Your Career with Hands-On Experience

By interning with local businesses, nonprofits, or industry partners, you’ll put your classroom knowledge into practice with real projects and gain valuable work experience before graduating.

The Benefits of Internships

  • Applied Knowledge - Turn classroom knowledge into action. You’ll apply the skills from your courses to solve real problems.
  • Build Your Resume - Develop industry-specific skills and gain workplace experience that employers value. From technical skills to communication and teamwork, you’ll graduate prepared to enter the workforce.
  • Network with Professionals - Connect and collaborate with professionals in your field. These relationships can result in mentorship, references, or even job opportunities.

Types of Internships Available at FLCC

Internships vary widely in form and structure. Some are integrated into your coursework and provide college credit. Others operate on a co-op model where local businesses pay you while you gain work experience.

  • Many of our academic programs incorporate internships directly into their curriculum as part of a for-credit course. These programs ensure a specific number of hours working with local partners. Your advisor will inform you when it's time to take this related course and will then connect you with an industry partner.

    Programs with For-Credit Internships

  • Even if your degree program doesn’t include a required internship, you can still gain valuable hands-on experience. We offer several flexible ways to build your resume, explore your interests, and connect with employers in your field.

    Selective Internship Opportunities

Sometimes, internships arise when a community partner needs a specific skill set. In these cases, you’ll work directly with a host site in your chosen field, applying what you’ve learned in class while getting a feel for a professional workday. Contact your faculty advisor or the Applied Learning Office to see if this option is available to you.
